Friends... Countrymen... RUSSIANS.... wait what? No No, sorry I mean AMERICAN!!!
Oh yeah that is right Russia... America takes your glory gold!
We all knew Shaun White would dominate in snowboarding, we all knew Ohno and Davis would kick trash in speed skating. We even hoped that Vonn would push through the pain and win the gold, but no one really saw an American winning in figure skating.
So here is the thing... I am not a big fan of MEN figure skating, and look at Weir and you will see why i am not a big fan. It is really REALLY hard to take a guy as a serious athlete when he is gliding around in a bedazzled leotard with feathers at the collar and cuffs. You just can't do it! None the less, I watched it, made fun of it but watched it. Even though I laughed most of the way through the Short Program (Especially after Weir) i felt the pride of all american's around the world connect in one finally goal. A goal that has always been an American goal... BEAT THE RUSSIAN!!!
So as Stephen Colbert told me to do, I cheered louder for the One American that was going to destroy the Russian Dream of winning yet another Gold in figure skating. Evan Lysacek vs the Russian (he doesn't get a name). It was the Cold War all over again, well you know on ice.
So the outcome in case you haven't figure it out yet... WE WIN WE WIN WE WIN!!!! Evan was flawless and by the end of the show he actually looked kinda cute, you know if you were into the whole superman/ clark kent look.
Well America is now winning in Medals, as it should be. Yes this is my American Pride Kicking in. I am a Texan, I know what State/Country Pride is all about and I plan to use this new found power to help us all win Gold!
